The RAM200 would have been the model aligned to the KEF104ab. The RAM was 'softer' sounding than the more analytical KEF - the use of a 10" ABR giving the likes of Elton John an almost baritone voice. We sold loads more 200's than 104ab's mainly because of that overblown bass - very impressive in multi speaker demos typical of the day. Of that second generation RAM's, the most impressive was the 100 which utilised the 8" Dalesford in a smaller ported desigb - the bottom end was far more believable. But if you really want some impressive speakers then search out (apart from STL4's), a pair of RAM 1's especially the early production with the Isphon tweeter (the later versions adopting the soft fome Audax of yhe day) and to my ears, took a step backwards in terms of top end resolution.

Hey jandl100, my name is CHARLES not 'Charlieboy' - I take exception to you calling me this - I consider this to be quite rude and condescending - In any case, I've got as much right to comment as anyone else - if you find it boring then simply ignore them - why make the effort to post a comment on them at all?
Marco, I'd appreciate your intervention here before I tell this person what I really think of him.

Well, I think you are being exceptionally rude on Allen's thread.
Talk about deluging us with your opinions - effectively telling him he is wrong about what he likes.
Once is fine, but you are just raining on his parade.
So to you.
It is a shame - you clearly have knowledgeable opinions and experience to share. You just need to improve the manner in which you impart your own subjective opinions.

OK lads ( gents ) calm down lets get back to

Indeed.. Guys, this is only hi-fi we're discussing, not life or death, so I'm sure that Al is a big enough daftee to handle Charles' honest comments, based on experience, and his constructive criticism about ONE pair of speakers he owns (amongst many), without the need to reach for any razor blades!
Charles, I would apologise on Jerry's behalf for the 'Charlieboy' remark. Although he disagrees with your stance here (which he's perfectly entitled to do), he'd have meant no harm, as it's somewhat of an AoS tradition to refer to folks in that way, by means of a joke, and you've not been here long enough to pick up on that.
Still, you're also perfectly within your rights to consider being referred to in that way as offensive, and I respect that. Therefore I assure you that, from now on, everyone here will address you by your correct name.
Ok, that's it now, folks. Let's get back to discussing the RAMs, where all constructive input, praising or criticising these speakers, is welcome!
Marco.
