Put it this way it sounds no worse than my SME '3009S2Imp, in which i have absolutly no desire to change, British it's an SME of high construction of the era i want thats all i care about, it sounds like it sounds, i don't really care if anything sounding better & i suspect my buddy feels the same regarding his 'LVV'. I can assure you he nor i or missing anything.

Coming somewhat late to this discussion I have to say that my experience of the Lenco arm is also not good even with wiring and V blocks sorted. I did find that the headshell of the GL78 slighly better than the solid one in the GL75 and have concluded that the main weakness is the headshell rather than the arm and bearings as it has too many components and is very resonant.

I have a GL75 which I fitted with a SME series 3 and this is superb and walks all over many decks I have heard, I also have a GL78 fitted with a good (as opposed to tired) Linn LVX and this is also far better than it's original lenco arm.

Sometime ago I experimented with an older L75 by fitting it with the arm off of an old Pioneer PL12D (the deck of which had bearings which were completely shot) claimed at the time to be capable of taking a Shure V15 III this combination is not bad either and certainly better than the Lenco arm and my girlfriend now has this in her system.

ECHO THAT :-) the SME IIIs I have on my GL75 is so good, that I am now pretty sure I no longer need to keep chasing that extra little bit of SQ

I may have to take the LV X arm I have on an old Linn Axis and put it on a GL78 or this other GL75 I have that needs some TLC :-)
