What's the harm in trying one? I may do so at the end of the month.
I hope Mr MCRU has a few?

I love the original. I've never seen a need to change. The thing I personally love is it's ability not to flatter a recording. You get to hear if the recording is crap or not. Now if the new platter can still do that and improve what I'm hearing then it might be a buy.

Do you think I'd be using one if it didn't?

Remember that I've used all three platters (MN aluminium, Funk and MN ETP), so I know intimately what they all do well.

I've used Technics > MN Aluminium > Funk > MN ETP and the sound quality improved at every stage. Midrange neutrality, fine detail and lack of any harshness make the ETP a stand-out. Bass quality is extremely good, too.

That sounds promising. Whilst I appreciate Bass is not the be all and end all of hifi reproduction, it does remain quite important to me as I have a large (~50%) rock collection and bass heavy material. The lack of harshness is also a stand out, I fell out with AT cartridges on my techie and went the Ortonfon route and whilst this improved things no end I can still detect a shrill edge on some recordings. Perhaps this platter could removed this?

Looks like one might be heading my way.

I'd say go for it, It's not like you wont get something for your current platter. BTW - You've spent some serious money on kit and ancileries by the look of things. I think some pics are overdue
