    Default Yamaha YP-800

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me a little bit (or a lot) about the Yamaha YP-800 turntable?
A friend is thinking of replacing a 20-odd year old Planar 3 and one of these has caught his eye.
I know Dave DSJR was a fan - anyone else? Feel free to do a brain dump here!

    Cheers

I have one, its a nice turntable, it has a grace tone arm, a 940 I think..but with Yamaha on the head shell.

To be honest I've not really used it, except for a quick test when I bought it, but it sounded good at the time

It's the arm that they fit as standard Andre, its a special version not quite the standard Grace. I'll have to get it out and have a look.

Yes, I'm a bit confused over the arm. I've read it might be a Grace, but the Grace has a yolk that's a round 'C' shape & this one one the Yamaha is more of a flattened shape. The bias assembly seems to be in a slightly different position too. Apart from that they look very similar.
I've also read it might be a Stax or Micro Seiki, but I don't believe either of those theories.

Andre, I'm with chris on this its very similar, but not identical, a few years ago when I spent some time researching it, the nearest I came to anything was the grace...there are quite a few opinions on the web though
