My concern is with the wiring scheme; I have not learned much about this, but what I have learned is that balanced tonaram cables come in more than one variety, and the more I read the more confused I am. So, the thing stopping me from ordering the Jelco 506 cable is that I am not certain it is correctly configured for the Aqvox. It does not have separate ground cable, which makes me wonder if the grounding scheme is correct from the Aqvox..? I am tempted to get the Aqvox copper cable ($600USD) just be sure the cable is perfectly compatible, but if the Jelco will work that would be fantastic. The attached pdf file is from Aqvox and discusses the XLR pin assignments. The Aqvox is a great phono stage even with the adapters and I really want to resolve the cable issue and fully enjoy it. Thanks for all the replies, Jim
Hi Jimmie: Rest assured that the Jelco will work perfectly with your Aqvox; it does with mine.

I've used 3 different cables with the Aqvox, a Van den Hul that was modified from single ended to balanced with an external ground, a purpose built balanced tonearm cable that Gene at Takefiveaudio built for me using Cardas cable (no external ground on that one either) which was close to twice the price of the Jelco and the Jelco. The Jelco is by far the best of the bunch. No ground issues and outstanding performance. Go for it and enjoy!

    Hi Jim,

I tried to attache the Aqvox pdf but too large. It can be found here:

    http://www.aqvox.de/tonarm_en-balanced.htm

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link "Here some cable instructions" to view the pdf.
Sorry to butt in, but could you do me a favour please and add your first name and basic location details to your profile at your earliest opportunity? This is now required of all members on AoS.

    Cheers!

    Marco.

    Hi Jimmie

I got this balanced silver for my aqvox:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/pure-silver-to...item56424a25b6

Although he doesn't list a balanced cable, he does make them (including an earth lead similar to that used by aqvox).

All good and considerably cheaper than many other balanced cables I researched.

FWIW, the combination of my 301,fr arm/cart and aqvox means that I have no hiss and very very minor hum (I suspect from the 301 motor) at normal listening levels with my ear to the speaker. Can't ask for much more than that!

    Best of luck
    Adrian
