'Starship Troopers' 1997 - always a good watch although at the time of release some of the less bright critics thought it was a 'celebration of fascism'. A remake is planned, apparently.

    Followed by

'Night Of The Demon' 1957 - flawed (some idiot decided it was necessary to show the demon rather than just leave it to the audiences' imagination) but still above average suspense/horror film with some great scenes. Supposedly one of Martin Scorcese's favourites.

'Starship Troopers' was entertaining, but pretty silly stuff really.

'Night of The Demon' is a classic, with real atmosphere and tension. I have it in my DVD collection. I rate this alongside 'The Dead of Night', with the awful dummy Hugo driving Michael Redgrave insane .
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Yes 'Starship Troopers' is silly but that is intentional and part of its appeal I think. I like Roger Moore era James Bond for the same reason. It's supposed to be nonsense! That's the whole point! Some people just can't make that leap, though.

And to make matters worse, the 'Demon' is shown on the cover!

Shame as it really is a very good horror film - as are all similar films directed by Jacques Tourneur.

A remake of 'Starship Troopers'? I'll give that a miss. I've seen it twice and although not a bad film, I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to watch it again.
