1982 seems like yesterday to me, but it is more than 34 years ago. In any case, everything was very synthy, and Adam Ant knew how to act in his videos whilst Toyah lacked conviction.
A new art form at the time, the 'pop video'.

The early 'Eighties were a bit weird in every respect. John Lennon getting whacked, that sort of sticks in my mind as the precursor to it, for some reason. 'Strange days indeed.'
Saw Adam Ant in London once. I was walking up the steps off The Mall and he was walking down. Very good looking and very well dressed (him, not me). Would have been in about '83.

Most Eighties music seemed pretty dire to me.
A few bands had some obvious talent. Thompson Twins, Culture Club and Soft Cell spring to mind. It was all pop, but done by people who actually understood music.
The Soft Cell single 'So' tickled me by having a B side called 'What'.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Pretty much bypassed the 80,s music wise. Guess coming from such a mansion as 60's and 70's, the 2 up, 2 down that was the 80's just didn't float my boat. Still, there was the odd masterpiece here and there.

St. Martin's Lane (1938), also released as The sidewalks of London stars Charles Laughton, Vivien Leigh, Rex Harrison, Tyrone Guthrie and the great Larry Adler on moothie
One of the best films of its time and made just a year b4 Vivien got the role of Scarlett O'hara. Some great musical ditties and dance routines. Laughton carries Leigh tbh a bit at times, but one of my treasures.

Passport to Pimlico (1949) . ealing comedy of the highest order this. superb performances from all but including Margret Rutherford, Stanley Holloway, John Slater, Basil Radford and Sydney Tafler. A small role for a future Carry on regular in Charles Hawtrey too.
