How's about Alice Russell "Pot of Gold" she's got an amazing voice very soulfull, or on the other hand if you like sublime guitaring try Joe Satriani's latest album "Black Swans & Wormhole Wizards"

Got to be one of the bleakest albums ever made....
    It's rather good though.

Default Hymns Of The 49th Parallel

I knew Hymns Of The 49th Parallel was a very special album when my wizzened up old grump of a boss said one of the tracks made him cry. Its a compilation of covers, but they are all silky smooth and guaranteed to pull you in. K.D. Lang was on a winner with this one. Used a couple of the tunes at my wedding a few years ago.

DIY is fine and dandy, but just try selling it on!

As there seems to be a critical mass of Floyd enthusiasts on here might I suggest 'Dubber side of the moon', a heavier dub remix by the Easy Star All Stars of their original cover 'Dub side of the moon' which was very nice too, but stuck a little too religiously to the original. This time round they've got the likes of Adrian Sherwood, Mad Professor, and dreadzone in to sort them out. It's pretty well recorded/produced too. 'Money' done in a dancehall/dubstep style is particularly interesting.
