There was the odd case of abuse from frustrated members about the tech issues.

Thought there were some issues as most times I logged in it was offline. I used the WAM for many year, in fact I think it was the first forum I joined but from what I see maybe its days are numbered? So many forums seem to have fractured in the last ten years and gone their own way. Ah well I will stay put here as long as someone keeps putting money in the slot and keeps the lights on!.

I think we get by because we are more of a community, built on mutual respect and a willingness to discuss everything from bass response to bowel movements, and everything in between

Yeah it is a friendly place Steve and everyone is treated with respect or humour.. I have been round a lot of the other hifi forums out there and there are indeed very many and they all seem to have their own flavour but the best are those which build a good community and are open and broad minded. I see that this forum does get plenty of interest from many more than those who contribute and that's great as they will hopefully find something on here worthwhile reading

ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven

Don't let nobody turn you around
… Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down

Normally I too am a morning person, but yesterday I got a ten minute warning at a customer's house. And my mate had only installed the new bathroom a few weeks ago. This was only about the sixth time I've had to use a customer's bog for a number two in 20 years, I don't consider it good form. I'd hoped I could get it done unnoticed, but there was no bloody bog roll! So I had to ask. He took it well.

As this is a hifi and music forum I will mention that he did have a good collection of 70s rock albums, and he'd wrapped cling film round the shelves to keep the dust off while we worked

Sounds like you should wrap cling film round your arse before paying a morning visit to a customer. Actually maybe not, that could get quite messy quite fast especially if it's a Monday morning visit after a nice Ruby on the Sunday night.

I'm a morning person too, it usually comes on quick about 30 mins after my morning coffee. The problem is, my commute takes an hour.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I'm not sure about that but a lot of members paid subs to go ad free and they started getting ads. The mods couldn't sort it and contacted the owners but I understand there was no support (or even response) for months and some people got increasingly frustrated.
