Default Guidance on noisy channel on Topping D30 DAC

My Topping D30 DAC has a burbling type sound on one channel

    Info
    1. It increases in volume if the amp is turned up.
    2. Swapping DAC to amp cables (L to R) makes no difference
    3. If the digital source is turned off the DAC is deathly quiet but the noise comes back as soon as the source is turned on and the DAC has to perform.
    4. The digital cable between source and DAC has been substituted without changing anything
    5. Aside from the noise, the DAC is performing admirably.
    6. I have taken the DAC apart and wiggled and tapped every component without change (it is only 5volts!)
    6. It is not a mains hum.

Any ideas, or should I just chuck it out

    Cheers Chris

Replace it, just isn't worth worrying about for the price.

The cheap Topping stuff is great for performance but it isn't built to last.

Thanks, and in a way I have taken on board both bits of advice.

I had stationed the DAC directly behind my amplifier and moving it as far away as the cables would allow, reduced the noise by about 80% and could not be heard from my near field listening seat. But having bought Harbeth P3 ESRs for this second system it needed better.

So I am gravitating towards the Ifi Zen One Signature, a lovely relaxing sound from the Burr Brown chipset. My favoured DAC type is the R2R and least favoured is the Sabre type.

"2. Swapping DAC to amp cables (L to R) makes no difference"

I assume the noise moved from one side to the other?

Sorry Lawrence bit ambiguous. The noise was always on the same side irrespective of cable.

I think Lawrence meant swaping the cables over at one end only (left to right). Does the noise change sides?

Sounds like the DAC then. If you are going to throw it away I'll give it a go to see if I can make it work.

Decided to put it in a cupboard as a spare if things go wrong

Not much talk on here about Ifi DACs so we'll see. Its for my second system anyway.
