Do you have the size of the box and how much do they cost?
    Thanks

They sound quite alike, yet different. (Sorry!)
They both have slightly different output stages, the 1540 not requiring quite so much gain, interestingly. So an ECC82 is used whereas with the 1541 I used a grounded cathode ECC83 (2 less in the component count, I'm a very big fan of the simplest circuits).

Dimensions are approximately 430 wide, 330 deep and 120 tall (mm).

As for cost, when I have totted it all up and putting some (adequate) labour on, one I built recently for someone with Silver everywhere, Resistors, solder, wiring (not A/N o/p caps though!!) I ended up charging over
    £2500

These are all my own designs.
Nothing too radical. Looked at the datasheets for all the ICs and implemented according
to the Manufacturer. Let's face it, they know what they're doing.
    1541 in differential mode.
Both (1540 & 1541) feed a transformer for I/V conversion and summing of the o/p
    and inverted o/p.
The tx's then feed a very simple Valve o/p stage.

    WM8805 SPDIF Receiver.

I am very, very pleased with the outcome of both builds.
