Can't remember what make my first radio was, but it was brown leather-look, with big oblong buttons on top for SW, MW, LW. I was 13, and Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dum and The Tams' Hey Girl Don't Bother Me were in the charts.
I know that I would never have been thinking "This radio is shit, I really need to upgrade", so I suppose I was no better than kids these days listening to music through their crappy smartphone speakers.

Sold it when I was on the dole as I had no use for it.

I still have a Roberts R727 radio with "big oblong buttons" for FM, LW, MW and SW.
It has an analogue tuning scale, tone controls and sounds pretty good. It sits on the bedside unit for me to listen to the news when I wake up.
