    Default What amp?

Time to get a new amp, I thought replacing a 50 yo vintage amp with amazing tech from 21st century would be an easy task. Oh boy...

I am lost, can anyone help please? Here are my requirements:

    1. Price - up to £800
    2. Inputs - RCA, maybe eARC if digital ports are included
    3. Output - RCA and headphones
    4. Functions - Loudness, Bass, Treble, maybe more
    5. Power standby
    6. Relatively cold, can be used in a TV cupboard. Currently use 40wpc G-class amp likely in A-class mode, all is cool
    7. Sound signature - full mids, good lows and highs. Don't like lean sound, or overly bright/sibilant

Could go with a preamp+power amp combo or integrated.

    Any recommendations?

loudness and tone controls not often seen these days

This is in budget and has everything else, spend the leftover on an equaliser.

Good find, and good price. And it DOES have tone controls, which are probably accessed via the menu button. So could be perfect.

Thanks. Strangely enough modern Chinese amps still have the Loudness fuction in their D-Class or FDA products. Go figure...

I'm also checking SA-20, should have a better amplifier, though the DAC and BT sections are outdated.

Anyway, there is a new British company that has a lot of hype for their entry level hi-fi offering. I might take their IOTAVX SA3/PA3 for a test.

[QUOTE=Macca;1346504]... spend the leftover on an equaliser...

Slowly digesting the meaning of these wise words. Initially was hesitant to consider a dusty piece of outdated engineering. But then I came across Schiit Loki and JDS Subjective 3. This opens a possibility to use power amps instead of the integrated. But then again I will have to shell our more cash for a headphones amp though... Maybe not, if Bellari PA550 Preamp has a decent sound.

Will NVA S80 be good with my Klipsch RP-150M speakers (93dB Sensitivity)? Is it really as good as only a few say?

I think the Schitt Loki is a bit expensive for what it is. You could get a proper Klark Teknik 32 band on the used market for that sort of money.

NVA with Klipsch is supposed to be a classic combo. Not tried it myself although have had some NVA in the past.
