    Default Metallica

Now I do have a very wide taste in music which has matured as I have grown older. So if I listen to anything here nowadays it is usually something gentle , female singer song writer stuff or laid back jazz, blues or some easy listening light rock.

BUT I used to be a mental heavy metal monster back in the days Sabbath,AC /DC and Zeppelin were in full flight. Occasionally I like to blow my brains out with something a bit more challenging rather than the usual pipe and slippers so this track and this performance by Metallica from their new album had me jumping.

As Howard Stern says at the end WTF was that! Brilliant awesome timing and power from a great band.

Enjoy or maybe not depending on your taste.

I have a couple of their albums from the 1980s but never been that keen and never play them but still listen to a lot of AC/DC and Zep. Just never seems to get old.

Not into the whole 'How fast can you play' thing not even when young and testosterone levels were higher.

Funny that tastes do mellow a bit and do listen to jazz and soul a lot more now but I'm not ready for the breathy songstress stuff yet thank god.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Master of Puppets is one of the classic albums of all time. Their later material left me rather unmoved I have to say.

The Black album is the only one I have. One of the few albums I have which all of us like, though they wouldn't care for the volume it gets played at when I have the house to myself. Really blows the cobwebs off the speakers.

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.

As with all things Metallica they sure know how to charge for vinyl, £40 for the latest album. I suppose it is a double album.

Yeah I do like to blast out Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters occasionally. But you can't beat Master of Puppets (the song) and Sanitarium.
