Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

okay it does if there's three or more of you and during the course of the night at least one person receives an injury that requires medical attention (although doesn't receive it and opts to just 'sleep it off' instead).

Sounds perfect... also if the more sober/considerate of the partygoers are willing to give up half of their evening searching for the birthday boy, who may have bagged off with some bird, or more likely fallen into the canal and gone home to get changed, while the more serious ones just carry on boozing anyway

It was just a light hearted attempt at humour, hope you're ok Roy. Happy birthday for the other day btw.

It really was Roy, we knew you'd be watching as you often say so at the top of your posts

I think the issue is mainly that there are fewer active members on here at the moment (probably because Covid has given us less newsworthy stuff to talk about), so birthday announcements (which is a tiny little afterthought at the bottom of the home page) can easily be missed.

I don't routinely check, but I will from now on. I'll even post my own, as I know 1st January is a tricky one, what with all the hangovers. I think I'll pass on today's (stabdis7) as I don't know who that is and he has no recent activity.

Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.
