    Default CD Player Repairs

Does anyone have a recommendation as to where I can send my Teac VRDS 10 to for some repair work? It has started to randomly jump around when playing CD's. Last time this happened (about 10 years ago), it was due to the laser carriage becoming worn and I suspect it could be the same issue again.

    Andy,

I would suggest Simon @ NSS in trumpers way Hanwell London very nice chap, fair prices too.
Though do be aware the laser mechanism is KSS151 A sony ceased production some years ago, and now just high prices I am afraid.
I have currently the same issue with a client unit in for a service.

By the time thats fitted, I am wondering if thats more then the CD player is actually worth. The last time I only got billed £100.

I don't think the player manufacturers ever thought that the better models they made would still be desirable at around twenty years old. The VRDS10 wasn't a bad machine and a delight to use. I remember it being a tweakers delight for clocks and so on.

Cheers for the link. Be interesting to see what prices Hong Kong can offer.

Thinking about it, I am probably better off trying to get this old war horse spinning again, as something comparable is still likely to cost more.

Maybe a few Op Amp upgrades as well while its apart..
