There are a few more options.Usualy,when compose somebodys PC,especialy with extra multimedia PC card which have poor driver I pull of all aditional card out.When Win and all MB drivers are working as it should I put back one by one that aditional card,and drivers as well.Of course, to shut down PC is required while doing the job

Yes i will probably try that as the onboard sound is pretty poor compared to the SB , very noisy and hissy , not much cop for doing any more rips

I'm wondering if there's a bios setting for disabling the PCI sound card. If this was enabled it could trick Windows into thinking there's no card there at all. Compaqs and HPs used to have this for video and Dells had it for NICs. Very frustrating.
