I thought the iPad was a complete joke when I first saw it announced but now having lived with one for the last two months I have to say it is utterly brilliant. I bought it for the whole family to use, it sits in the living room and is easy access to all. It offers instant boot and quick n easy web browsing along with email, games and such a multitude of apps I wouldn't know where to start! Suffice to say that the comments made previously I think are ill founded and such is the success of the concept others are now trying to enter the market, now that the biggest endorsement going

I think others will always try to enter the market of almost anything that Apple sell, not because of any intrinsic worth of the product, but because they feel they can turn a coin on Apples reputation and marketing. It's not an endorsement of the product, but of Apple's success - not the same thing.

I'm trying to figure out how could an iPad integrate with my living and habits.
Or, whether it could bring something useful and new.

At the moment, my quest for answers can be resumed in two words : Epic Fail.

Eh? Sorry that's balderdash The iPhone disproves your statement, the iPhone and iPod are Apples success. The companies current position as number one market cap has been built on these products which is a ringing endorsement of the product! iPad sales of 2million in 2months is remarkable.

    "Balderdash" - great word, Neal!

Next time, may I suggest "piffle"?

Sorry, I have no view on the iPad, one way or the other..... I merely wanted to compliment you on the quality of your retort!

Sorry, I don't understand how the existence or success of the two products you cite disproves my statement.
I don't think I actually said that Apple have not made successful or good products. As it happens, my opinion is that those two things are entirely different - big sales figures don't mean the product is good, it just means people like it - not the same at all.
My point, that you don't seem to have understood, is that other companies will blindly follow Apple with me-too products, whether the product is any good or not.

Marco, yes it's a great word, but the wrong one in this case, I think!

I guess that would be useful if you have your PC in another room - my wife and I are a right pair of saddos - laptop each either end of the sofa!

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the ipad a blatant copy of the tablet PC?
Similarly, isn't the ipod a copy of the RIO and MPress3 (which was my design) mp3 players?
Even the name Apple and logo was from The Beatles.
