    Good lord, I haven't seen one of those for more than thirty years... Those meters were something as I remember, with the peak needles as well as the mean-level ones..

    Yes, these meters are just amazing - and it is possible to switch the mean, the peak or both. Here is a closer look (photo was taken when I was servicing the deck).

    That looks the spittin image of the Aiwa 'AD6700' i used to have eons ago..

    It is a better one - AD6900, with three ferrite heads and dual-needle meters. AD6700 looks very similar.

    I'll put mi new Norweigean toy pic up when it arrives 3 heads are not necessaraly better than 2 head machines

    Ah, very nice indeed Alex, and I remember those 'two meters in one' units - absoutely barkingly superb!

    Mind you, if we're talking VU meters, perhaps I should also own up that I bought another unit along with the RS-9900. Yep, I also have the SH-9020 power meter unit, which is little more than a couple of big tasty VU meters in a nice box, so I can now have VU action no matter what I'm playing!

    Piccy will follow when I get five minutes.....
