Who remembers the 1970s magazine 'Hi-fi for Pleasure', which regularly featured a cornucopia of stocking-clad maidens adorning its front covers? Oi lurved it (even though my copies usually ended up getting, erm, somewhat 'soggy')

I well remember the ladies on Hi-Fi for Pleasure covers as I sat in on several of the photo shoots - one of the perks for writing in that mag. All very interesting and stimulating as I recall. Several of the lovelies went on to be Sun page 3 models.

    I'd like the TA-8650 amp.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    I have still got a 377.
I have a small business ,MGM Audio. I run a PA system and do some recording, using high quality mics.
I was once recording a choir ( digitally ) and took my '377 along to run off of the mixing desk outputs, along with the digital recorder.
The lady Choirmaster asked why I was using it, and I told her the analogue sound was 'warmer'.
    Did she understand?
    Who knows..?

I have one which cost me £25.
A new mat, lubrication and a Denon DL-110 cartridge.
    Total cost ?
    Just under £165.
My Linn LP-12 / Mission 774 / Entre cartridge does sound good, but what a price...
