I'm joe.
As in most things it will depend on the implementation and context in which it is used
If I like the music then frankly I don't mind how its done or what instruments are used but it must be done well and sound good.

I think we are in agreement that a drum machine (of any kind) should never be used as a replacement/alternative for a drummer in a real band, or for any type of music created or comceived to be played by a real drummer or with a real instrument.
Phew.
So what about music designed not to be played on a real drum kit?
Let me introduce you to the musical nemesis.......
The Korg EMX-1. A computerised, drum machine, sampler and all in one music making device. It isnt designed to sound like anything other than what it is, but does (if you know how to drive it properly), produce a half decent tune.
And it has valves in it.
That would be Andre's worst nightmare!
Meanwhile here's some real drumming (I wonder how easy it would be for a drum machine to replicate this?):
That'll be right up Joe's street!!
Marco.
