    Exclamation Forum Host Migration

Everyone will know that we've had a number of issues over recent weeks and months with the speed and reliability of the forum, and consequently a decision has been made to move to a UK based vBulletin specialist host.

This migration is scheduled to occur first thing on Wednesday morning, GMT. I'm anticipating the start of the working day. The exact schedule of downtime will be added to this thread when I have had that confirmed, but we anticipate no more than an hour or two's offline time for the actual move.

There will be a period of disruption once the forum itself comes back up while the internet Domain Name Servers propagate with the new host details (this is the internet directory service that maps our URL to a particular box at a partiuclar host). This can take up to 24 hours, but can eb a lot quicker and will depend to some extent on which DNS your ISP or setup uses.

But the key thing is that once we've migrated service should be vastly improved. I look forward to positive feedback in Critics Corner!

There is a possibility that some access issues affecting the archive of the site from the existing host may impact the timing of the move and when the downtime occurs. If it slips past the working day today I will post again with revised details.

When the forum move is underway, the forum will be shut down and an 'under-maintenance' notice posted up - so you'll know what's going on.

    Apologies again for the disruption.

The forum has now been sucessfully migrated. It may take a few hours for all users to be pointed to the new site, but it's great to see a number of users already here!

It feels a lot snappier than before. I hope you all enjoy the go-faster stripes!
