    Default optimistic audio noob!

    Greetings!

My name is David King and I live in Tampa, FL. I'm a long time forum snooper and anxious to learn what I don't know.

    MY HUMBLE SETUP:

AudioEngine A5+ (powered monitors), Mini 6J1 Valve & Vacuum Tube Pre-Amplifier W/upgraded GE 7-Pin GE JAN 5654W tubes, Beresford TC-7520 24bit/96KHz DAC (I just pulled the trigger on the TC-7535 from Stan), Impact Acoustics Sonic Wave speaker cable W/banana inputs, AudioQuest Cinnamon USB A-B interconnect source cable, AudioQuest JitterBug USB noise and data filter, two SKW braided RCA male-male cables, and two SKW optical digital cables.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

thanks! according to the TC-7520 manual it suggests I variably output to my little pre-amp. Both have volume controls and I'm not sure which (DAC, AMP, or SPEAKERS) would yield the best sound quality. Any suggestions?

I would have the DAC volume at full and use the pre-amp to adjust overall system gain.

Yes, I agree. That's what I'd probably do, although there's no harm in trying alternative options.

    And welcome to AOS David!
