    Default Bakeoffs

I've been running small bakeoffs in my house for a few years now, first on the WAM and now via Audio Abbatoir. They are normally just an excuse for a few music lovers to get together for an afternoon. We do some kit swapping but the kit isn't the primary target; it's finding new music to listen to. Last year I tried opening it up to people here but sadly got virtually no interest. I've tried again with similar results at the moment. Am I just flogging a dead horse on here?

    Where was it advertised here?

I haven't looked at Audio Abbatoir since it was first set up. Can't say I was impressed with what I saw there, but perhaps it has settled down by now.

But don't become discouraged - advertise your next bake off/get together here and hopefully you will have some takers.

I'll still keep doing five or so a year as I have been since 2014. I've advertised on PFM as well before and the response was the same as here.

    Fair enough Ian.

Have a 'bump' on me. There are still four weeks to go.

    Hi Ian
I'd like to but it's a long way from Brighton.

I'm sure you'll get someone along to your event...

Living in Toulouse, this is the kind of thing I miss.
I hope a few more people closer show interest, as it is a great way of discovering new music and new kit.

I think time of year is playing a part, Ian. I'd have come over (just to see that DCB1 again!) But I'm returning from Greece that day.

Lots of folks on holiday and such. The weather too. We suffered from a lower than expected (based on voiced interest) turn out at the Penkridge bakeoff probably due to the excellent weather.

Keep advertising here, I'm sure you'll get a few start to show an interest as you build up a few relationships on AoS

That's the kind of bake-off I prefer, less kit swopping and more new music, and if you were a bit closer I would have no hesitation in attending but the 125 mile drive each way kills it for me sorry, but good luck with it.
