    Most passive usually sound a bit sharper with the +6db initiated, especially if it’s just user preference rather than amp or source matching, u should try the 0db setting again with the tubes

    Thanks, tried that before and I found it hard to hear a difference that I couldn't be sure wasn't due to a slight volume mismatch when adjusting for the gain change. Found an hour last night to play around, the Croft definitely made it smoother, rather a nice match actually, but not a long term option. Sadly I missed out on a yaqin buffer auction on eBay ending today.

    I tried a Yaqin valve buffer and found it a waste of time. It did nothing to enhance presentation. Unlike the old, original, Musical Fidelity X-10D, which works a treat!

    I had an x10v3 and liked it, I hoped the Yaqin with upgraded valves would be better.
