Got very dark here for a while, after a bright start, but never rained.. Cleared up somewhat now, and warmish without being hot, but a bit sticky still..19c

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Hmm. It's still 25C and humid. The sky to the north has gone very dark and I think I can hear very faint rumbling far off.

Been raining here in West Hampstead, London for the last three hours. The rain is a welcome relief from temperatures that have been in the mid to upper 20s over the past days.

Earlier we went up to Hampstead Heath and enjoyed a picnic there in the sun.

It's been getting steadily warmer all day and has now reached a rather sticky 31C. I'm finding it uncomfortable to be honest.

Well the cows would be glad of some rain , as much as I would.
Sadly ,most rain will be too late for a lot of crops which have had their dye cast ,I am afraid

Come down to sunny Weymouth and see the lovely harbour. A pleasant 24c with a lovely, light breeze.

    Very pleasant.

I watched them launching that Sir David Attenborough ship earlier on. I was quite a way up the river from it though.

Been about 29C here today in London.

Went to Hampstead Heath and had picnic there. Later popped into a traditional gelateria - nearly £4 for an ice cream!
