Nothing pricy or exotic, just neutral and transparent please. 1m ideal, could go a little under or a bit more over. Say 80cm-150cm.

Thanks for the offer I should have said, I'd like to pay about £20-30 but could go a bit higher for something nice. Unfortunately £150 is quite a bit over what I can afford.

There are many Belden or Canare Star Quad and Neutrik pro audio cables (like studios use) out there for that budget. Mark Grant do some, Blue Jeans cables are excellently made and low priced. You will not hear a difference between XLRs properly made, fact! It is a well-sorted interface.

Mana Acoustics Racks / Bright Star IsoNodes Decoupling >> Allo DigiOne Player >> Pedja Rogic's Audial Model S DAC + Pioneer PL-71 turntable / Vista Audio phono-1 mk II / Denon PCL-5 headshell / Reson Reca >> LFD DLS >> LFD PA2M (SE) >> Royd RR3s.

I have bought several cables from this company in Nottingham. Good materials, good workmanship, fast turnaround for custom cables

You'll get some for a few pounds online and you won't be able to hear any difference, it'll just make you think you can the more you spend.

+1 There is no need to spend any more than £20 for a 1 metre pair.

My chief consideration is whether to go silver plated or not. As the power amp has enough treble already I'm thinking not.

What has silver plating got to do with treble on an XLR?

Go for the cheapest well-made cables. My choice for 1m would be the designacable quad cable.
