Do hope you can get sorted ....
Reminds me of a guy I worked with years ago - he gave up smoking and suffered all kinds of health problems. His doctor told him to start smoking again, the stress of withdrawal was apparently too much for his body to cope with

I will at some point be forced to give up, and it will be for financial reasons (I hope). For the last 3 years we've gone to Bulgaria for our holidays, and over there Marlboro Gold is about £2.50 a pack, making 100 packs £250. With them costing 11 quid a pack over here, that's a saving of £850. Our 'all inclusive' holiday costs around 7-800 pounds, meaning holiday + fags is cheaper than stay at home + fags!

Anyway, I'm sure there will be cost increases in the near future due to you-know-what, and when that happens I'll be forced to take the vape route. I have tried it before, and found it boring. Apart from the addiction, problem is I actually LIKE smoking! I never smoke indoors, not even at home, so it's just me that's getting stinked up with the smoke.

The doctor put me on anti-smoking meds a few years ago. The side effects were so dreadful, I thought they'd kill me!

Believe me - I absolutely LOVE smoking. For me it wasn't simply a pastime or a nuisance addiction I was stuck with, it was part of my life and had an almost religious meaning. Smoking was way cooler than anything other than sex. I always thought I would sooner give up the booze than cigs (and I love drinking too....) I had a special tin for my tobacco and another to keep my filters and papers ... I even had a seperate set for going on holiday with. My favourite brand was Samson and I was absolutely gutted when they brought in plain packaging - even more annoyed than all the Brexit crap.

Yes - vaping is boring, and the first time I tried it I just couldn't be bothered ... the yawn factor was immense. Problem is that I'm not getting any younger and the effects of almost 60 years of that shit are really hitting home. Poor circulation, problems with breathing, easily fatigued and most definitely hearing impairment due to the accumulation of phlegm in various cavities in my bonce.

Time came when I had to admit to myself that whatever pleasure I was getting from the stuff and however much I convinced myself that I was some kind of f**king hero for not caving into the anti-smoking heretics, the only person who was really being a complete and utter wanker was me.

I wish there was a button inside my head to press so I can give up smoking.

I have tried the patches, gum, sprays, hypnotherapy, the wonder tablets the doctors prescribe, even vaping, which tasted foul and made me wheeze and cough like an old donkey.

What pisses me off intensely is when people say it is a "filthy habit" and gets my goat even more when the medical trade label is as such, when they know full well it is a bona fide clinical addiction, equally as severe as heroin.

i gave up because i was starting to feel the effects, plus it was both becoming expensive and difficult to do anywhere bar home. plus my daughter wanted me and wife to stop. i thought i would do it and show wife it could be done. she only followed several years later and too late for her.
all it takes is willpower, although many dont have enough and need help. my son used patches successfully. i used willpower only. wife eventually used electronic cigarettes.
hell i gave up alcohol too. never thought i could do it but it was easier than i thought. im still alive so it must have helped..lol
