I don't mind wearing a suit if appropriate and I've got a couple of good ones. I wouldn't wear them just for the sake of it though.

The trend of wearing brown shoes with a dark suit needs to stop.

'Never brown in town'. Doesn't matter that the 'fashion' is, it's just wrong.

One of the great things about being over 60 and retired is that I don't give a rat's arse about what is 'passable' or what others think I should be wearing. Not that I was too bothered when I was still working but was in a management role for a while and did adhere to some sense of decorum ...

Although I resist the temptation to dye my hair pink and wear a leotard and sandals to go shopping, I take my hat off to any other old codgers who feel the need to express their wildest taste in sartorial grandeur. Once you've done your time on the treadmill "fuck 'em all" should be the motto

    Ditto on both counts

As ever, trends are followed by mindless sheep. Why wear something that's deemed as 'trendy', if it makes you look ridiculous? It's just crazy. Better to create YOUR OWN look/trend! I always admire people who aren't afraid of expressing themselves, through the clothes that they wear - as long as it's carried out with some class.

    A) it shows you've got a personality, instead of being just a bland/boring 'no mark', and b) it demonstrates that you're a free-thinker, not a sheep. blindly following the herd, and who's not afraid of sticking two fingers up to convention! Such people only deserve my respect.

I completely agree, Mike, but *only* when you're truly past it, and so it no longer matters.

It's of course ultimately up to the individual concerned, and I'd always respect someone's wishes, but if you're still reasonably young (or not quite decrepit, lol), and reasonably fit and healthy, why not take a pride in your appearance?

Chances are it'll make you feel good and improve your self-esteem. And life's too short not to feel good! There's plenty of time to give up when you're wobbling around in your zimmer, and dribbling from both ends!!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

You're confusing him with Lady GaGa I think. Done that myself a few times.

Watching The Superbowl last year I thought it was Marco doing the half-time show until about half way through when there was a close up and I realised 'Oh, it's her!'
