Default Sorbothane, how long does it last?

As per the title of the thread. I'm thinking about making a couple of shelves to rest on sorbothane hemispheres for my Quadraspire SVT rack. The rack is great but I'm wondering about the isolation benifits and if sorbothane loses its ability to 'suspend' the weight over time? Has anyone used sorbothane for more than a year or so, and have you noticed that it has completely compressed?

I'm also looking at making plinths for my speakers to use sorbothane between speaker cab and plinth. Good idea? Bad? Or just stupid?

Sorry, it just don’t ware out or compress and will probably outlive you.

Don’t quite understand the concept, but yes there are other methods for support, perhaps more expensive!

Have you looked into Magnetic Levitation ?? And many other alternatives.

Sorry not very helpful...... you need to Supply more information to achieve the end goal.

LOL, no need to apoligise Peter. I was just wondering if its worth going to the trouble of making these bits and bobs if the stuff is only going to compress in a month. I've never used or even handled the stuff.

We all have our own concept of what is perfect and perhaps none is !!

For little money Sorbothane is not a bad option.

Give it go, what have you got to loose?

A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Sorbothane generally lasts about half an hour with me.

Every now & then I try it under kit but it usually (always?) just takes some of the life and pizzaz out of the music for me. Half an hour after putting it in, it gets taken out again.

I thought that it lasts two or three years (retaining original properties - I don't mean that it will fall apart!).

I also understand that you need to match the mass it is supporting to the "grade"/hardness of sorbothane used.

I've got 'blobs' of sorbothane that have had equipment on for maybe ten years and still restore to their original shape when taken out.
