    They do look like the early wharfedale W3, here's a pair, one from the bottom.
    Wharfedale W3 vintage speakers from 1960/62. 12" bass, 5" mids & 3" tweeter with Alnico magnets,15 watts

    red ones were 12" and fitted to w60's. have a heavy cast frame, a 2" voice coil, with a reverse roll fabric surround

    nope, the whole panel should come out.. will be screws in all corners and down sides. just wood screws most likely. screws go through a band of trim inside at front and into the front panel. thats how you change the material
