Default Hi from a sad to be downsizing new member.

    Hello all,

Hello everyone, I am a 50+ teenager who has been into hi end audio since about 10 years old when my Uncle bought me my first HiFi .

My musical tastes vary through classical, jazz, alternative and dance, I guess I just like what I like and not a genre...

Unfortunately due to a change in my circumstances I no longer have a house with a listening room, I only have a room.

For this reason I wanted my last few pieces of equipment that were given to me by that uncle to go to a good home; so here I am.

I will be listing in the for sale section as soon as possible.

I am currently reviewing my options for a small portable headphone systems, and any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Puiumeu.

    Hi Alec, welcome to AoS.

Sorry I can't recommend you some headphones, I hate the bloody things

Must be a significant downsize if you can't have any loudspeakers at all?
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Its just a room in someones house, I cannot make so much noise, hence the idea for headphones. If someone has some ideas for speakers that work well at lower volumes and closer proximity (not my experience) then that could be an option.

I also hate headphones but recently purchased a pair of Hifiman HE400i magnetic planar headphones in anticipation of a relocation overseas. They need a good headphone amp but these can be bought for very little.

If speakers are feasible I can strongly recommend a pair of Martin Logan Motion 2i. They are fantastically dynamic and have limited bass output. The important point is that they sound superb at low levels. I use a pair in my bedroom system.

    Hi Alec. Welcome to AOS.

We have quite a few members who enjoy headphone systems. I'd suggest browsing through 'The Artist's Pallette' section for info or starting a thread there and asking questions, I'm sure you'll get useful advice.

Feel free to join in any chat that interests you.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.

    hi alec
i was chatting in germany to a chap who has a place in munich , shocking prices so not surprised you only have a room . i am sure there are a number of small speakers that may do and if not then headphones better than nothing . i have a little pair of maudaunt short speakers in a second system and they are super . very discrete and lovely sound . smooth and detailed with a old rotel amp

    these are the speakers
