Default FS: Conrad Johnson PV12 & Premier 11A

    Hi all,

I'm downsizing my system in readiness for a house move because, frankly, we need the money . I'm very sad to see it go as it's taken me many years to get it to this level, but it's for a good cause. I'll also be selling my speakers and another pre-amp, possibly my turntable/arm/cart & phono pre-amp as well but I haven't taken any decent pics of those so they may follow soon.

    1. Conrad Johnson PV12 pre-amp (with the hard to find MM phono preamp upgrade and new line stage tubes).
This is a very highly regarded tube pre-amp within CJ's range, very dynamic and with a huge soundstage (one of my fav things about this CJ kit). This one's quite unusual as it has the optional (and very good) phono pre-amp. I've recently had this unit professionally serviced and tested by Ian Davies. He measured the THD+N at 0.05%/ch . The line stage tubes are brand new Genelex Gold Lions. I'm the second owner, bought from my audiophile friend who is probably even more obsessive about this stuff than I am!

Asking price is £800 + Paypal fees + postage at cost. I don't have the original box but it'll be well packaged. You're also welcome to pick it up from me in South Oxon.

    2. Conrad Johnson Premier 11A stereo power amp (includes some superb tubes)
An absolutely wonderful amp from CJ's flagship line, this uses two 6550 tubes per channel for 70wpc. I'll supply it with a quad of CJ-recommended Svetlana Winged =C= 6550 (originals, not the new junk), which in this amp produce a lovely airy, delicate but still impactful sound. I also sought out and will include a matched quad of the "holy grail" 6550, NOS Tung-Sol from 60s/70s. These just about match the soundstage and delicacy of the Winged =C= but also up the dynamics & imho are every bit as good as people say. The Tung-Sols have approx 200 hours on them, and alone cost me nearly £500 a few months ago. All tubes test good on my Orange tube tester.

A really nice feature of the Premier 11A is the super easy manual bias (simply turn the screws on the top plate until the red leds go out, no opening up the chassis). This means you don't have to use matched tubes (big future £££ saving there), and also means you can use various others, including KT88s and KT120s (the latter are apparently a good and inexpensive match).

This amp has also recently been professionally serviced and checked out just fine. Again, I'm the second owner & bought it from a friend so I can vouch that it's been well cared for and quite lightly used.

I have to admit I'm gutted to be selling this amp as I'd hoped I'd be buried with it, but...needs must.

    With the Winged =C= 6550s...

Asking price including both sets of 6550s is £1900 + Paypal fees. I'd prefer pickup on this one (those transformers are pretty hefty!) or I can travel a reasonable distance to deliver (I'm in South Oxon).

I'll also take £2500 + fees for both (pickup or reasonable delivery).

I've mostly lurked on this board for a few years, but I've been active on Head-Fi since 2005 and have organized a number of UK national Head-Fi meets. Also, here's my ebay feedback.

Thanks for looking, and feel free to ask any questions. Cheers. Mark.

The Conrad Johnson PV12 was a steal at that price , I would be in mourning if I had just sold that

Yes I figured I'd under-priced it as I got a ton of interest pretty quickly. Oh well, it went to a good home.

From a CJ amp owner - that was close! You would've definitely regretted it!
