So are you fond of a royal wedding, Barry?

As a republican I have to say "no", and I found the whole build-up to the event tedious in the extreme. However I did watch the highlights later in the day, and have to say when it comes to all the pomp and ceremony, that is one of the things we do do well in this country (and I suppose it is good for tourism). Added to the fact that the weather was bright and sunny - I'm sure a good time was had by one and all. I wish the couple all heath and happiness - as I would for any newlywed couple.

Happy was keen to watch the ceremony - women tend to be more attracted to these events, but of more interest to her emotionally was the fact that the bride's mother is black and descended from slave workers. Seeing Megan's mother in attendance 'resonated' with her profoundly.

Better than being descended from slave dossers, I suppose.

All he meant was in terms of the 'workers vs. dossers' thing. It was an attempt at humour - unfortunately, however, not one of his better efforts

Know what you mean about Happy resonating with the 'black thing'. That was rather profound, as well as it was with Bishop Curry handling the ceremony - all at an event that is historically an all-white affair.

Not into 'pomp and ceremony' though, unless it's about something I care about, and anything royal family-related simply doesn't register. It means nothing to me, nor relates to my culture. A Papal visit to the UK would be far likelier to elicit some feelings of excitement.

It would have to be God Himself to interest me.

Lol..... Try and see it, if you will, from the position of an Italian/Scottish catholic, rather than a British/English protestant/atheist or flag-waving royalist

I saw the Pope last time he came. Not the one who was in the Hitler Youth, the one who used to be a goalkeeper.

Jesus saves, but Keegan scores off the rebound, as we used to say.

Indeed we did. We were doing memes before there was even a name for it.
