Default Quick question on 2 prong power cord.

Can I use a normal 3 prong IEC power cord on an Audiolab item which only has a 2 prong power input?

The Audiolab is double insulated so does not need earth (the instructions says don't earth it) and a normal 3 prong power cord fits - but upside down with the earth pin going nowhere.

Do I need to switch positive to negative in the plug or can I just go ahead?

A three pin cord will be fine.
It is a class II device as illustrated by the double square symbol.

You don’t need to switch anything in the plug.

    Cheers!

Am out at the moment but looking forward to giving this old item a whirl. It is a 8000CDM.

Spun this old Audiolab 8000CDM for several discs today - via coax to a Perreaux DAC and to a KT88 amp.

Astonishing given its age (circa 1994). Mechanism just 'works' whatever you throw at it (even old recorded CDRs). Sound quality nicely balanced with heaps of detail. Smooth across the range. Not as high quality as more hiend items (my current ref is a Sugden CDP) but overall very engaging.
