Ive been trying one of these out and I think it is one of the best brushes I have ever tried. You do need to moisten the brush a little with a quick spray of cleaner before using, jus to stop any static building up.

I then give the record a quick flick over with my carbon fibre brush afterwards.

I have the VPI RCM 16.5 Rob and it is a basic but very effective record cleaning machine. I could not live without one as they make such a difference to cruddy records. A good clean not only quietens vinyl down from all the ticks and pops it reveals finer detail in the recording.

I have cleaned second hand vinyl from the 1970s and got it sounding almost like new!

LOL - it's true once you spend £500 or so on an RCM you can buy the cheapest carbon fibre brush going like I did, as you hardly need to use one.

Also you get the bonus of extended stylus life when you have super clean vinyl, but I'm sure you know that already...

The Audioquest brush just has a lot more fibres in it from what I can see.

To answer your question - I use a Decca carbon fibre brush. They come in two varieties: one consists of carbon fibre bristles alone, the second has a row of carbon fibre bristles on one side, and a row of fibreglass bristles on the other. I have tried both, but am quite content with the carbon fibre only type.

You can pick them up from Amazon for < £10.

    I wouldn't use anything else.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
