    Default DAC success

Having a relatively entry level CD player, Denon DCD 720, I had it running through my Bluesound Node 2 via optical. It was a good deal better than the CD player. So this encouraged me to take a punt on a used NAD D1050 dac which I got for £230 off fleabay. It’s turned out to be a step up again, to my ears anyway, and has brought a new lease of life to my cd collection. It also double sided up as a headphone amp too, win-win.

Only thing is I’m wondering whether I can improve on it again with a better CD player/transport.....

A Meridian 506 or 507 player or 500 transport feeding a Theta or Monarchy Audio DAC could be good. It'll cost more obviously.

A Caiman SEG from Stan would yield substantial sonic improvements without breaking the bank

Alex, are you saying a Caiman SEG would be a significant step up from the NAD D1050 dac?
