This is a sad story but no matter how clear it is that the courier appears to be at fault the moment you make a claim the courier normally has a clause to allow him to claim “salvage”.
So the claim may or may not cover the value but the goods subject of the claim become then property of the courier.
In this instance don’t claim but pursue the courier to complete the delivery as the goods location is known.
We send around 40 packages a day and find lost/late deliveries are best pursued via painfully long telephones calls rather than automated claims procedures.

This is what I've done - but I guess they have to organise with parcel force in the UK. Personally I'd prefer for someone to take it to the post office and ship it to Stuart and put an end to the whole business - but that needs to be done in the UK and would mean I'm out of the picture.
