Default Casstte drive belt selection pack.

Had to smile today. I had ordered a selection pack of 50 different sized drive belts from China- £2 .20.

So , this am they rocked up. Well packed - bargain , I thought !

Three packs of long belts maybe 40 all the same size.
One pack of shorter belts ,10 , all the same size . 2 choices . I am doubting they will be right for the 2 decks I need to fix , but have messaged the seller

Yeah well you will either be ignored or will get a version of the Monty Python dirty fork sketch but with no refund forthcoming. Surprise me by saying you got an apology and instant refund

Ebay could refund you if you want the trouble of photographing the item and copying emails.

A lot of these deals are too good to be true but many are a real bargain. I think you take a low amount of money and have a gamble in some cases.

I have got a back up Denon in case the belts fail but I wouldnt know where to source them properly now. Theres a seller in Germany who seems to have a good selection and I might try them eventually. I dont think the cassette deck revival has taken off yet and there are plenty needing belts

This chap in Germany is very helpful, I got a set of belts for my old Marantz, arrived in a few days and were a perfect replacement.

I have a Triumph brand (Hitachi made ) cassette . It came as a stack from Currys and was my first really serious seperates system

I would like to resurrect it for old times sake - you know?

Not bothered by the cost but the mixed selection was a bit of a laugh!! All the way from Pinghu Town , Shenzhen.

    That Pinghu gets about

Being a farmer , I am used to O rings for machinery and stuff.
My hydraulic hose repair man has a box of different O rings of all diameters . I may well measure a bit of thin string around the relavent pulleys and see what hes got in his selection box.
I dare say the Chinease seller will offer me the proper mixed selection if I pay again . £2.20 is nought!

Oh so you are trying to get a selection of belts hoping one will fit. I see what you mean as it cant be rocket science to get a belt that may fit

There must be people making rubber belts like belts for cd trays which may fit. Obviously original parts are best but what do you do when thats impossible. Have you researched the manufacturers of rubber products and belts? They can often point you in the right direction

My fingers are crossed that my cassette belts have a while to go yet. I Havent really looked into it yet but perhaps I should.

I wouldnt bother with that seller again though...one chance is more than enough

I have actually bought another selection pack from a different Chinease seller . Under £2 ,so will see what develops.
Not had an answer from the original seller ,but I will not lose sleep over it. I will find a use for the o rings that he sent .

Yes Martin , I am sorry if I didnt make myself clear , the Triumph /Hitachi made cassette player needs a selection pack . I doubt Hitachi or anyone can be bothered to know what the exact belts were used on that model , and I have researched it for a long time myself !!
I take on board you should have the right belt for speed etc , but if you think about it , a right tension belt that fits the pulleys ok ,should play at the right speed.
Not really sure if I will use it much if fixed anyway (I have a Sony Minidisc player too,and personally ,despite a lot of folk saying that cassettes can be equally as good) , I dont think so myself .
Just nice to see things back in service . The other player I want to mend is a Phillips N2506 . I bought it when I was about 14 , and if I can resurrect it ,will give it to my brother in law who still wants one !https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tavKdzjObM8

Well ,having received the second pack of drive belts, I took an hour or 2 ,to take the mechanism apart to clean and replace (hopefully) the belts!

What a job getting all the ,what is now , liquid rubber off the drive rollers

I shall take a few pics
