Actually, the sun won't go supernova, it's not massive enough, but it will expand into a red giant star that will pretty certainly swallow Venus and Mercury, quite possibly Earth as well.
Even if it doesn't swallow us, it will be this giant nuclear furnace just a few millions of miles away. Not good.

Come to this thread a bit late - but why should there be any 'point' of the universe? We exist because the Universe is the way it is and not vice versa.

Methinks we overestimate our importance in the scheme of things.

When the next global catastrophe occurs (maybe caused by us, maybe not) and all that's left are the cockroaches and Kanye West, Earth will pick itself up, dust itself off and carry on. And it will be like we never existed.

I don't know how poor Kanye will manage though, with no one to hear his shite.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: Zu Omen Def, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Amptastic Mini One,Arcam A75 integrated, Celestion 5's, BK XLS-200 DF

    A/V:
LG 55" OLED, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL Storm sub

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.

    KICKSTARTER: ENABLING SCAMMERS SINCE 2009
