Yes I can confirm that Jazid did not charge me a penny for his very generous and careful testing, and not only that but I think he even offered me a beer while I was there. What a gent.

Funny story. 2 days after I posted this ad and the KT88s didn't sell, someone offered me a Radford TT100, which was designed around 4x GEC KT88s. So I'm very happy they didn't sell after all - they're going in the TT. (Should be here later this week).

Nice. Output stage of the TT 100 is essentially the same circuit as my STA100, but the input stage is solid state (FETs).

One of the last amps Radford made I believe ... it was a return to valves after a period where they made solid state amps that measured astonishingly well, but didn't sound as good as the valve amps that came before.

I came very close to buying these valves for my STA100 but chickened out ... I've already had delivery of a set of new production Sophia KT88s which should be nice, I don't doubt the GECs are better still but based on a couple of past experiences I'm a total coward when it comes to vintage valves.

Yay! It's a crying shame to shift something so uncommon, and which will only get rarer, and here they are now being used for exactly what they were designed for.

Anyone who was dithering, bad luck, these are top valves. Result!

Tom, contact John Caswell if you are interested in some GEC KT88. I know for a fact that he has some he may part with.

Cheers Nigel. As you probably know he's only 3 miles up the road.

Looking forward Nick to your impressions on the TT100.

Thanks yes I will definitely post about it either here or maybe start a new thread.

Not sure what to expect really. Thinking to send it over to David Coe, who's just up the road from me, to check over before I even plug it in. DEFINITELY before I put the GEC 88s in it.
