I have the Joy Division one ...

Bought it in Sainsburys a few months back - does it still count?

Turns out the Joy Division is only so valuable because it is signed. There must be hundreds of thousands of copies of that LP out there. Same with the Sabbath.

I've got a few of them, but all on CD. Might be another 30 years before they are bankable I think.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

Yeah, the specific criteria for what makes the stated vinyl albums valuable is a little vague! I've got a few of them, some originals and all in VG condition, but not mono promo or signed versions.

The interesting one among those I've got is The Dammed (Dammed Dammed Dammed), as that appears to be worth around £600, simply as an original in VG condition, which mine is. I could buy a few decent bottles of claret for that!

Yes - three bottles of Chateau Margaux.

I have only one record which has been signed by the performers - but the fact that it is a signed copy is of no interest to me. As I have said, I'm only really interested in the record itself and how it sounds.

Same here, but The Dammed LP in question belongs to Del, which she bought brand new, in her youth, when she was a punk. It's not of particular interest to me, but if she's willing to sell it (and I suspect that would be the case now), then why not?

There are probably a few reasonably valuable records in her collection of punk, (both singles and LPs) as she was into the more obscure bands (a few on the MUTE and STIFF label, for example), who wouldn't have sold many records, so it's something to look into.

I had a signed LP once, but I gave it away because it was shite. Not as shite as the Police promo album, to be fair.

I dunno if any of my LPs are rare/valuable, but even if they are, they'll have been played to death on el cheapo systems over the years, so I doubt they'd qualify as 'near mint' or even 'excellent'. Plus any 'collectable' inserts will have been lost/stolen over the years.

My question is, who are these people paying 2 grand for used records? Damn, I hate paying $25 for a new one!

Likely worth a hell of a lot more - collectors pay a fortune for covers with typos
