Maybe people are being over-sensitive, to oversensitive having a hyphen.

    It's inexcusable I know.

I will try to hyphenate only where appropriate in future.

    Objecting, that is.

It's far more interesting watching what happens when nobody responds, and they start digging a hole for themselves.
I'm not a big fan of that scenario. Because assholes' main capability is digging a hole for themselves, and then it is always us, innocent bystanders, who have to pull their asses out of fire. I'm sick and tired of doing that.

Let them dig their hole and leave them there in it.
They'll learn quickly enough that it does nothing but make them look foolish, and start to behave sensibly in future.

English is a very flexible language, and I think that hereticism is a reasonable flexing, most knowing what I mean.

I am not trying to be seen as intelligent, I have nothing to prove in that direction (according to Career Analysts Ltd), and I resent the inference that I am pretentious. This is both wrong and ad hominem. Most who know me regard me as exceptionally authentic and self effacing to the point of self deprivation.

The trouble with differentiating high sensitivity from oversensitivity is that a reference level needs to be established, rather like the comment on putting sugar in someone's tea and they saying "Not too much sugar", useless unless one knows what is the right amount.

It seems to me that hereticity is an adjective referring to the trait in character of an individual.

Those who 'have the water parted for them', often do not notice and are oblivious to the resentment they arouse in others with their arrogant attitude; the Arrogant Expansive Neurotics. (Horney).

The last few posts on the previous page remind me of just how much I prefer dealing with mature people.

Bullies are counting on us being evasive and submissive. Try and stand up to a bully and you will see what a chicken he truly is. But decent people still abound in our society, so they politely make way for the bullies, for assholes with booming voices, for the inconsiderate. I like to stand up to them. Show them what worthless pieces of shit they really are. Once they piss their pants and shit their underwear, they tend to change their tune.

Needless to say, I'm not the most popular person in my town.

My only talent is self-deprecation, and I'm not much good at that.

Absolutely! Trouble is, it needs to be fun for ALL concerned, not just for a few who find it funny... In that respect, the participants (and especially the person who's the butt of the joke) need to feel that they're being laughed WITH, rather than laughed at.

Otherwise, the "pissing contest" isn't good-natured [hyphenation necessary], and turns into something rather more sinister. On AoS, we welcome the former, which is classed as 'banter', but always frown upon the latter.
