    Default New toy!!

    .
    Hi all,
I thought id share a few pics of my new TT.
Iv been busy beavering away at this for a few months picking up bits and pieces as i could afford and decent opportunities arose .
The plinth is rosewood and corner braced, i have to say the character is stunning and its beautifully crafted.
Black top plate is from vinyl passion and cut thicker to reduce resonance.
New linn motor is hooked up to the mose power supply . edmund chucked in some quality gold audiophile fuses which apparently improves the sound????
Subchassis and armboard are solid acrylic . Maybe a kore will be on the cards in the future but this came up super cheap so couldnt resist and its much better than a standard linn chassis imo.
Arm is the nima mk2 with a yannis cable and an ortofon rondo red which was upgraded by a needle doctor with a nude shibata, he seems to think its as good as the rondo bronze now?? Its was brand new from his own collection so its still running in. This is my first dip into moving coil and i dont think il be going back in a hurry. Its wonderful.
Cirkus bearing and edmund chans ssp12 inner platter with embedded brass weight give it super smooth and stable rotation .
Baseboard is acrylic with sorbothane feet mounted on an isolation platform i knocked up until i can afford the trampolin.
Needless to say this thing is stunning and a HUGE step up from my RP6 with soundsmith otello cart. Very musical indeed and it extract better levels of just about everything..
yes i know there are better tables out there for the money but this has been my dream deck for a long time and buying it in parts and building it myself has cost me less than two thirds the price of a retail Majik. Living in oz has helped as all the parts have been vat free aswell. Happy days!!! This should keep me amused for a long time now and iv already set my sights on new amplification to help it shine even more.
    Cheers
    Karl

Nice TT Karl, Like that Black Top Plate, really sets the Platter off.

The Nima is a great performer for the money. Yes the Aro is 'better' (I have had both) but for price point, the Nima can't be bettered, Unipiviot wise. If you can, get the Tiger Paw SKale counterweight, it can sit right up to the pivot and improves things further! Very good VFM upgrade...

IMHO, I would bypass the Trampoline base for the time being and wall mount the TT on a dedicated shelf.
This transformed my LP12 completely, but I do have a suspended floor.

BTW..No finger lift on that Nima? How do you manage to cue up? A few squirts of whatever is in the background and with a Unipiviot, things could get messy !

I hope you have many years of bliss with the TT, enjoy!

Sweet mother of God, that's the best looking LP12 and arm I've ever seen. It's hifi porn of the highest calibre!

I particularly like the amber coloured accessory to the rhs . . . 😈
    Current kit :
Music library (FLAC) on IMac or streamed via Qobuz. Fed wirelessly to Raspberry Pi / Allo Digione and into Lyngdorf digital amplification. This handles room correction and drives a pair of Quad 2905 electrostatics.

Absolutely lovely! I too think the LP12 and Nima work well together. The whole package certainly is a looker and sounds quite nice I would think. Congrats and enjoy!

Hi mate yes the scale is on the list for sure. Just want to get my new(old)amp sorted first then il pick one up.
I have solid concrete floors so i get zero footfall and im in a rented apartment so dont fancy drilling holes to fit a wall shelf. Something I will definitely consider in the future though cheers.
Also i do have the lift but the screws that came with the cart are a cats knacker too short to use with it so i need to get down the local audio shop and pick some up over the weekend .
