    I'm Chris.

    Default Posting CDs

I have a fair number of CDs that I don't play, so I have decided to sell them off.

Now Music Magpie will buy them, but at a typical 10p I would rather give them to a charity shop.

So when selling through E Bay, comes the thorny question of how much the packaging and postage will cost and also time visiting the local Post Office etc.

What I would like to do is put the CD in a padded Jiffy bag (50p), stick a first class stamp on it and put it in the post box. Is this viable or do I have to queue at the Post office and pay more?

How do you guys do it?

First class stamp wont pay for it. UK post for a single CD would be £1.40 first class, £1.26 second (large letter 250g)+ cost of Jiffy bag and your time. I just weighed and priced it for you.

    Thanks Neil

I sort of went round that route, but when I look at e bay the typical P&P demanded is about 99p, so I thought I had missed something. How do they do that?

I don't know, special rates for bulk, another postal service. Make the CD dearer to cover the extra cost.

    Then it wont sell

You know, its the jewel box that adds the weight. Without it, the CD and booklets come in well under the small letter rate

Long and laborious, but list them and sell them on here.....?

Alternatively, take a decent resolution pic of say 20 at at time of the spines so we can see what they are...........?

If they're in good nick I'm sure we on here wouldn't mind paying a fair price for them, certainly more than you'd get with MusicMagpie.

Scan them with you phone using discogs. Cds have barcodes...then get a printout to pc as a word file or such then copy that into sales thread.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Many of the eBay CDs I've bought have been in a jiffy bag with a bit of thickish card either side of the CD which seems to restrict damage to the CD case
