You can see the border between the original sandstone brick of the main house, and the roughcast on the extension....
The window with the unattractive glass and (now rotten) wood surround is part of it, which will also be getting replaced later this year, for something more in keeping with the Victorian status of the rest of the property. We've just been too busy doing other things, prioritising tasks as we go along. With old houses like this, there's always work to do!
The pic was designed to show a secluded space outdoors (completely enclosed/sheltered) we use, where we can eat/drink and entertain family and friends in privacy. It's nicer doing it there than in the open space of the front garden, and with passing oiks looking at you in envy, when you're carving the venison
Marco.
I work in all kinds of houses, and when I first go in, I always think to myself 'could I live here?'. When it's a Victorian property the answer is always yes. They are so solidly built, and with loads of character.
There is always work to be done on them, but if renovation rather than refurbishment can be afforded, they can look stunning, and will continue to do so long after the current crop of new builds have fallen down.
On the council estate near us, putting your 3-piece suite in the front garden is the norm when the sun is shining.
