    Default CS4353 Singled Ended Dac

    Hi,

I'm currently listening to one of these CS4353 3.3v stereo Dacs with a 2vrms line driver built in. This does away with any coupling devices and external opamps. Sounds very good.
Anyone have any experiences with these?

    Hi Duncan,

ESS also stock a dac chip with integrated 2v rms driver the ES9022 , its specs are not fantastic especially compared to their higher range more complex models but it looks very easy to use, dirt cheap and those who have tried it reported very good results

I've not tried either yet, may have to look into them though, look ideal for portable use too.
Did you use the evaluation board for the Cirrus part Duncan or did you just wire it up on vero?

    Cheers,

Just how good is 'very good' !!
Marco says you and Ian think it might out perform your own DACs

    That would be amazing.

Havnt quite finalised this yet Steve,i'll be doing some more comparisons tonight.

What i will say though in the context of my system the new slim 250 is a lot better than my old 80 gig version.

    Default dac

    Hi,Ian
Can you tell me if the capacity of the hard drive has any bearing on the sound of the dac,or does sony fit a different dac in each version or just abigger hard drive?
    Not a guru.
Don't need any Tannoys - I've got the best. All cables supplied by pound shop or better.
