Cut out/drastically reduce your intake of bread and potatoes.
Walk a bit more than you do already.

That's it : slow and steady wins the race.

    Make wraps rather than sandwiches.
Make more veg rather than any kind of potato.
It's not that difficult to get going and once you lose a few pounds it should be easier as the psychological side kicks in ..

    Good luck !

Acquire an amphetamine habit. The weight will drop off like nothing.

Of course you might find you have just substituted one problem for another, but that's life.

I would say even just cutting out bread will help. I developed an intolerance to gluten and dropped a trouser size just cutting out bread, cakes and biscuits, etc..

Breads a big killer and a downfall for me, I just love bread and if it's on the counter . . .

Only way to deal with it, is put it straight in the freezer so it takes more effort

Good luck Al, it's not easy. I know it's a very simplistic view, but you need to move more and eat less. I lost over 30kg over a period of 18 months just by walking everyday and cutting out snacks, reducing bread and carb intake and just being a bit more sensible regarding portion size. But I still ate what I wanted, I wasn't prepared to eat diet food or actually consider I was on a diet. I just thought about what I ate a bit more. Late night snacks too, I can be a devil for those but very bad. I never buy or use anything diet though, most of it tastes awful and is loaded with sugars or something else to try and hide the fact there is less fat. Just eat a little less, I would rather have quality over quantity.

I have put some of the weight back on, due to moving around and living with other people, but I'm still 18kg less than I was when I first thought 'right, this is getting silly' and decided to do something about it. Now I'm back looking after myself I intend on getting down to the weight I was when I came back from China, or close to it at least.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

The only time I ever put weight on is when I go to America. Except for that time when I ate Kentucky for lunch every day for two weeks. Put on half a stone, couldn't believe it.
