I can never understand why people are so squeemish about performing a faecal smear test. Obviously you are not obliged to do it, but it is, IMO, much better to keep an eye on things whilst something can be done about it, rather than leave it until it is too late.

I dont know about that but I suppose we should all be in for a prostate test. Im afraid that Im a very much a dont touch me and I dont want to know any bad news type person.

I must work on how to get over that

Anyway dont mention HR departments to me. They have completely changed so they dont even care about staff anymore. There used to be some pretence they cared....now they cant wait to sack people because they enjoy it.

    Wuss!

Far better knowing exactly what's going on in your body, so you can address any problems necessary before it's too late, than blindly burying your head in the sand! This is one area where women have every right to laugh at squeamish men, as they're so used to being intimately examined for all sorts on a regular basis!

Man up, muchachos, and get yourselves checked over if necessary!!

depends on the tests but yes in general men are getting better, and thus are closing the gap age wise at death averages.
After saying that, especially once you get to a certain age, its sometimes better not to know too much.

My doctor asked me about 8 months ago if I wanted a prostate examination but I declined . I wear rubber gloves most days on the farm , so didnt want to face it

Why - if you can still do something about it, which results in improving the quality of the life you still have left?

What you're advocating is akin to deliberately using speakers that effectively just 'edit' recordings, to make them sound 'nice', rather than tell you what's actually there...

I'm afraid when it comes to either medical issues or hi-fi, I always seek the truth!

Get tested. You might even be lucky and have a young attractive (female) trainee do the digit test, as I did.
I could tell the difference after the consultants finger

All joking apart it really is better to know with the prostate. A simple blood test will show raised levels of PSA then things can be followed on from that.
I have early stage prostate cancer but of the very slow growing kind and recently learnt that my 87 year old uncle has had it for 30 years without treatment.

You could be unlucky and get the aggressive form but you could also die with it rather than from it, as I suspect will be the case with my uncle, and me hopefully.
