    Agreed it is annoying, but is no worse that the usual habit by most in starting a sentence with "Well". It will probably fall out of fashion, only to be replaced by something else to give the speaker 'thinking time' before they speak, without a silence which would make them seem a bit slow or stupid. It's the same with the words: "Um", "Er", "Erm" - they are just noises allowing the speaker to pause in order to think.
